The focus is on what works in real conditions: the right tools for your climate, the mistakes that kill more seedlings than pests do, and the quiet satisfaction of a plant that thrives because you listened to it.

How to read a page here
Every page starts with a clear question—like *‘Why is my pepper plant dropping buds?’*—followed by a numbered list of possible causes. The numbers aren’t just steps; they’re a way to skip to what matters. If your issue is fungal spots, jump to #3.
If the leaves are curling, #5 has the fix. Some pages include a ‘Quick Fix’ sidebar for immediate action, while deeper dives (marked with a seedling icon) explain *why* the problem happens.
Units are always metric (centimetres, grams) unless imperial is standard in your region, but we note conversions where it avoids confusion. Timings assume average conditions—so if your greenhouse runs hotter, adjust. Photos are labeled with what they show (e.g., *‘Powdery mildew on zucchini’*), so you can match symptoms without scrolling.
Ignore the ‘Also Try’ section on a first read: it’s for when you’ve solved the main problem and want ideas for next season.
Need to know if a plant is annual or perennial? The first paragraph has it. Wondering if a tool is worth the cost? The ‘Gear Check’ box at the end summarizes.
And if a page feels overwhelming, the ‘TL;DR’ at the bottom gives the one thing to do today—no fluff, just action.
When it does not work
Some pages assume you have basics like a trowel or a spray bottle. If you’re starting with just a pot and sunlight, check the ‘Beginner’s Kit’ under the Library tab—it lists the five tools that cover 80% of tasks.
Other pages skip steps that seem obvious (like ‘water the soil, not the leaves’), but if your plant still struggles, the ‘Did You Try?’ checklist at the end catches the most common oversights.
Before you give up
- Did you check the plant’s sunlight needs against your spot?
- Is the pot draining? Stick a finger in the soil—if it’s soggy after 24 hours, it’s drowning.
- Have you ruled out pests? Flip the leaves and check the undersides.
